Zach Hoekstra
GAME DESIGNER
SHORT SUMMARY
Zach has been designing board games since he was 12 years old, when he presented a poorly-made and far too intricate Battlebots board game to his incredibly patient parents. Since then, his games have become much better designed, but only a little less intricate.
Zach's inspirations come from all sorts of random events - he's built games based off old legends, historical events, or even from the time he got lost in Kyoto and found a random local market hidden between major streets. Terry Pratchett put it best when he talked about writing fantasy novels:
"If you’re going to write, say, fantasy – stop reading fantasy. You’ve already read too much. Read other things; read westerns, read history, read anything that seems interesting, because if you only read fantasy and then you start to write fantasy, all you’re going to do is recycle the same old stuff and move it around a bit."
